HONGKONG. 13th December, 1920.

I have the honour to submit for Your Lord- ship's consideration a request from the Superioress of the Canossian Institution for a grant of two plots of land shown red and blue on the enclosed plan, to provide for an extension of the hospital at present standing on Inland Lot 1370 and Inland Lot 349 Remaining Portion.

The present hospital is overcrowded and is proving inadequate for the work of the authorities of the Italian Convent in affording medical facilities for the infirm and destitute poor; and in view of the charitable nature of the work I recommend that the two plota be granted on the following terms:-

(a). The area marked 'A' and coloured red on

the enclosed plan to be granted for a period of 75 years, without premium, and subject to a nominal Crown Rent of 81 per annum, and to such conditions as are necessary to ensure the erection of buildings on the lot within a reasonable time and to safeguard the interests of the public and of adjoining property
